Many recipes & foods can be modified to decrease calories and fats without decreasing flavor

  • Use spray oils & a nonstick skillet to fry eggs
  • Use spray oils instead of oil to sauté or stir fry
  • Use equal amounts of applesauce in the place of oil in cake and muffin recipes
  • Use egg beaters or egg whites (w/ 1 T oil) instead of whole eggs
  • Use tub margarines instead of stick margarine
  • Use Olive Oil, Canola Oil, or Peanut Oil
  • Bake, Boil, and Grill your foods instead of frying
  • Use beef, chicken broth or bullion cubes to season your vegetables and meats instead of fats
  • Use light or fat free Mayonnaise, Margarines, Sour Cream, Cream Cheese, and Salad Dressings
  • Decrease serving sizes of Meat and Breads, increase servings of Vegetables
  • Choose baked or light Chips instead of regular Chips
  • Choose Diet Soda, Sugar-Free Kool-Aid & Tea
  • Choose Whole Wheat Bread, Cereal, and Pasta
